Where To Find Plus Size Vintage and Consignment in Canada

It is a truth universally acknowledged that vintage and second-hand shopping is more challenging when you are plus size. Luckily, there are some businesses out there that have stepped in to fill the gap. From Canadian boutiques to giants like Poshmark, this is your guide to buying and selling secondhand plus size clothing in Canada.

Chubby Fem Thrift

Chubby Fem Thrift is a good place to search for wardrobe basics at very low prices. Shop by size up to 6X. Pickup is available if you are in Edmonton. chubbyfemthrift.com

Consign Your Curves

The original Canadian plus size consignment shop, located in Guelph, Ontario. If you haven’t heard of Consign Your Curves and its dynamic founder Carlie, you have been missing out! I have personally consigned with Carlie and it was a fantastic experience. If you are in the Guelph area, do not miss out on the opportunity to visit the boutique. You can also shop online although the selection is limited. Be sure to follow @consignyourcurves on Instagram for Instagram story sales. Carlie is also the founder of pearle, a plus-size clothing line focusing on made-in-Canada basics. consignyourcurves.com

Curvy Thrift Co.

Curvy Thrift Co is an online boutique based out of Hamilton, Ontario. The shop stocks a lot of bright, fun pieces, as well as more everyday items and workwear. (Side note: their product photography game is A+.) There is a very large selection to choose from and more on the way, so be sure to check back frequently. The shop also offers local delivery and pickup. curvythriftco.com

Found For Us Plus

Based in Alberta, Found For Us Plus is a great place to look for more unusual vintage finds. I have a couple of vintage 1960s nightgowns that I purchased from this boutique that are really special. It’s a great place to go treasure hunting. www.foundforusplus.com

Poshmark

Poshmark is a marketplace where you can sell your gently used garments and purchase from other sellers across Canada. There is a very good plus size selection on the website. In my experience as a seller, buyers are looking for the lowest price rather than a fair price, so be prepared to get lowball offers for your items. For that reason, you may wish to consider consigning your more high-end items with one of the boutiques on this list or with a local consignment shop in your area. Potential buyers also ask a ton of questions and will often request measurements. It is very hands on but it can be a good way to pass on the clothing you’re no longer wearing. When you sell your items you have the option of either using the credit towards purchases on Poshmark or receiving a payout. poshmark.ca

SellTradePlus

SellTradePlus is a social media-based marketplace of secondhand plus size clothing with a focus on slow fashion brands. Sellers submit item photos and descriptions by email to SellTradePlus and if accepted, the item will be posted on social media. SellTradePlus collects a small commission fee (USD$3.80 at the time of writing) on the sale. Not all sellers ship to Canada so be sure to check before purchasing. You can find the guidelines via the link in their Instagram bio. @selltradeplus

ThredUP

Although Canadians can’t sell on ThredUP at the moment, they can make purchases. ThredUP has an enormous selection to browse through; pretty much any brand you can think of is on here. thredup.com
